More than a decade after the United States and Japan reaffirmed the significance of the U.S.-Japan alliance in the post Cold War world, connections between Washington and Tokyo have grown increasingly complex. At the same time, regional dynamics have also shifted considerably. What is the state of the alliance today and where is it headed in the years ahead? What challenges and opportunities confront alliance managers on both sides of the Pacific?
