The script Pertjawon first prize in the Realist Script Writing Competition 2010 held by Komunitas Salihara.  Telling the story of three sisters whose life stories are interwoven, this play was written with the concept of urban realism—a form of re-appreciation and re-definition of the concept of realism which flourished in the 1950s and 1960s.  The dramaturgy of Pertja is built on the tension between characters until it reaches a climax which does not overcome the problems but which develops in such a way that it leaves the audience with several questions.  Pertja presents urban people trapped between “being slaves to etiquette” and the wish to be free, poverty and dreams of wealth, bankruptcy and security, scattered families and the unity of a family. The script features characters as an internal of the performance and the expression of layer upon layer of the meta-narration to become its aesthetic strength.

The play is performed by Oyag Forum, a combination of several groups with members involved in theater, creative writing, and music with backgrounds in formal arts education.  Oyag Forum was established in 2008 by Benny Johanes alias BenJon, Soeko Sri Setiati (Teater Re-Publik), Irwan Jamal and M. Wail Irsyad (Teater Cassanova), Wida Waridah (Sireum Hideung), Taufik Darwis (Sarekat Ababil), Asep Holidin and Silvester Petara Hurit (Daun Jati), S. Lawe NH (Kelompok Musik Ketuk), and Semmi Ikra Anggara (Rose Black Theatre), all of whom live in Bandung.
